Truffle Hunt Club tour

It's winter in the Southern Hemisphere right now and, as well as rain and snow and chilly weather, it is also the season from something much more valuable. Truffles!

A private truffle weekend (Friday 31 July - Sunday 2 August) on Tasmania's remote Flinders Island in Bass Strait, has been planned to combine three key ingredients: truffles, culinary travel and Tasmania. Truffle grower and Director of Melbourne's truffle festival, Truffle Melbourne, Nigel Wood (pictured above) and epicurean and former Vue de Monde events co-ordinator Leisa Latham are hosting a behind the scenes private aircraft weekend visit to the Tamar Valley and Flinders Island.

Nothing has been omitted on this trip, from the chauffeured transport to Essendon jet base, check in at a distillery while the butler transfer guests' baggage to the terminal, return private air travel to Tasmania and Flinders Island, and luxurious accommodation at Red Feather Inn on the island, to a private truffle hunt, lunch with selected Tasmanian artisanal producers, a truffle cooking class at Red Feather Inn, and a degustation dinner at Tasmania's best truffle restaurant, Stillwater.

During a whole day guests will meet island producers sharing their stories, and Truffle Hunt Club's private chef will create beach-side masterpieces using local produce and truffles.

What's more, fine Tasmanian truffles will feature in every meal from truffled canapés on arrival, delicious truffle breakfasts to the most stunning degustation dinner, culminating in day-long feasting on Flinders Island's best produce, teamed with – of course – truffles.

But there's just one catch!

This one-of-a-kind tour is limited to 10 adventurous travellers.
