| Serengeti camps revamped |

Just when you thought this remote corner of the world could not be improved upon.....now three of Asilia Africa’s six Serengeti camps have been revamped. Sayari Camp in the Northern Serenegti, Dunia Camp in the Central Serengeti, and Namiri Plains in the Eastern Serengeti have all received a major facelift.
(Tea with a view at Dunia CampTea with a view at Dunia Camp) The popular Dunia Camp has literally been 'lifted up', with each of the eight classic tents and common areas being put on wooden decks. This gives the lodge a more permanent look and feel and even better views of the Serengeti Plains and wildlife. The upgraded traditional safari décor features king beds, sitting area with luxurious chase, classic bucket showers and private decks for relaxing and game viewing. 

Namiri Plains opened just a year ago in the eastern Serengeti in an area previously closed to tourism. Its look includes king beds and sitting area decorated with neutral patterns and opulent (fake) furs. The bathrooms now feature outdoor showers with amazing views of the surrounding plains. The separate guest area and dinning tents have new furnishings, the highlight being the bar where gin and tonics are always on order.
Sayari Camp, the first permanent camp in the northern Serengeti has been refurbished for the new season. Recently reopened, the interiors reflect the hues of the Serengeti - neutral greys and greens. New additions include a map room that is home to current and historic maps of Africa and Tanzania as well as reference books on area wildlife and anthropology, the perfect spot to spend time between game drives. Better still there is shopping! Asilia’s new flagship safari shop is at Sayari is where guests can see Masai beaded jewelry and home goods, handmade textiles and the always popular white beaded jewelry by Sadai designs. |
