Three religions name this festival as very important: Hinduism, Sikhism and Jainism. Diwali, Divali Deepavali are all names for the festival often known as the festival of lights. It lasts for five days and this year runs from November 3 to 7. In Indian Hindu culture it is the most important festival of the year. What happens? In southern India special sweets are made and eaten, but often meat and alcohol is not. Most parts have festivals and fairs with entertainment for the entire family. |
