Flavours of Melbourne

This book was voted the best culinary travel book in Australia at the 2013 Gourmand World Culinary Awards, and as soon as you open it you will immediately see why.

This has to be one of the most beautiful (and certainly the heaviest!) book of its kind, and the fascinating thing is it concerns just one city in Australia. OK, it is Melbourne which waves the banner as the country's most food-centric city, despite murmurs to the contrary from Adelaide and Sydney, but everything from the innovative dust-jacket which peels off to become a poster, to the 500 pages of text and full colour photographs of lusciously loaded plates and must-see places, backs this up.

Actually this is the fully updated second edition, of an already best-selling book. Now you can explore Melbourne as you could no other way: the laneways, upstairs, downstairs, local favourites, hidden gems, and the big places everyone recognises. They are all here.

Just as entrancing are the photographs that take you right into the heart of the food areas, showing you the city as you may have not seen it, but also introducing you to what has been called 'the most liveable city in Australia'. If you knew this and were thinking of moving to Melbourne, this book may well tip you into doing so; if you already call Melbourne home, you're allowed to feel very, very proud.

If you are simply visiting the city and want some really good food and a dining experience to remember, this book is for you.
