All Day Cafe

There is hardly any meal I like more than breakfast in a good cafe. And I especially love those that serve an all-day breakfast.

So of course this new book has hit just the right note with me. Author, Stuart McKenzie, is perhaps the best person to write this cookbook as he has run some of Melbourne's most successful cafes and restaurants. Some locals will remember fondly the inimitable South of Johnston, for example.

Melbourne has been a leader in cafe-style food for decades, and the trend continues. Now, with this book, home cooks can recreate a cafe experience in their own home any day of the week - all day!

As you would expect the book has several avocado recipes, some simple enough for one of the children to manage to prepare, and there are all the classics such as baked beans, bubble and squeak, kasundi, and pappardelle with beef cheek, through to friands and a stunning marmalade granola slice. There are pancakes and wraps of course and flourless orange cake, mushroom soup and more. It really is a book that works well for cooks all day every day.

Because, let's face it 'cafe-style' really just means good, quick, easy food that tastes fantastic. And this book delivers.

++++
