Chocolate

Just the title itself will sell this book to many people. Chocolate must be, after all, the most-loved flavour on the planet.

However, any home cook who opens the book will find a hundred or more reasons to want to own this book by the cook who MasterChef proclaims as 'the queen of chocolate'!

The owner, director and head pastry chef at  Savour Chocolate & Patisserie School in Brunswick, Victoria, which she opened in 2002, Kirsten has devoted her life to the preparation and sharing of all things sweet and wonderful.

So you would like to know how to create perfectly filled chocolate macarons? Go to page 38. For decadent orange and hazelnut bars, with a three choc-square level of difficulty, turn to page 78. There's a show-stopping coffee milk chocolate cake topped with ruffles of chocolate, a gorgeous chocolate roll and moulded chocolates, and plenty of tips and hints which Kirsten has gathered during her career.

But it's not all tricky stuff. Chocolate pecan biscuits will please everyone - cook and eaters, as will chocolate chip cookies and chocolate gingerbread caramel biscuits (even saying that name will have you salivating).

The book is beautifully illustrated with full-page photographs by Greg Elms, who we hope was able to eventually tuck into the goodies he has presented so alluringly!

Chocolate, by Kirsten Tibballs, published by Murdoch Books, 2016, rrpA$49.99, hardcover, ISBN: 9781 7436 6127.
