Mouthwatering Macau

297783Famous for its fascinating fusion cuisine, Macau will have more on its plate soon when the 10th Macau Food Festival opens to tantalise the taste buds of local and international foodies.

More than 125 restaurants will gather to put their secret recipes to the test over 17 days of celebration.

A variety of Asian, European, Chinese and local delicacies will be on show and sampled at an event which has also attracted international interest and has been billed the biggest.

For the second successive year, well-known restaurants in Malaysia will join in the festivities by bringing to the table their gourmet delights at a specially arranged Malaysia Night Market.

Joining them for the festival will be famous restaurants from mainland China's Henan province, the first time they have been represented. Sponsored by the Macau Government Tourist Office, the food festival has been themed "global delicacies" and will take place at Sai Van Lake Square from November 5-21.

"Visitors will be able to sample worldwide cuisine in the one place," said Helen Wong, general manager of the Macau Government Tourist Office (Australia and New Zealand).

"Of course, Macanese cuisine (mix of Portuguese and Chinese) will be served. So too some interesting dishes from mainland China, Malaysia and other parts of the world."

A series of activities are on the program for the trade and holidaying visitors, including seminars on food and beverage industry development, food tasting and traditional food art displays.
