| Southern right whales pay a visit |

Any time of the year, there is a multitude of reasons to head down to Victoria's Great Ocean Road: the strange formations called the Twelve Apostles, the world renowned stretches of coastline, the spectacular natural surrounds. Between May and October there is also thea nnual migration of the famous Southern Right Whales! In celebration, the region's tourism body has released a series of Whales, Walks and Waterfalls special accommodation packages - so that you’re only moments away if any sightings are reported! As the whales start to migrate north – they are frequently spotted along the coast – with many recent sightings at Cape Otway and Logan’s Beach in Warrnambool – making now the ideal time to pack the car (and your woollies), grab the family and escape to one of the many popular townships peppered along the famous stretch of road for your chance to spot this fantastic occurrence!
Further down the coast – base yourself at Port Fairy’s Douglas on River (see accommodation package below) and take a spectacular walk around Griffith Island, learn about the early settlers and take in the rugged Southern Ocean – you may even spot a whale in the process!
