Walk on Tasmania's wild side

Learning more about Aboriginal culture is the theme of a new tour, the first indigenous-owned and operated tourism venture in Tasmania, launched in Tasmania's north-east.

The four-day wukalina walk led by Aboriginal guides and elders, takes its name from Mount William (wukalina in the local palawa kani language) and covers more than 30 kilometres in the Mount William National Park.

Ben Lord (above) will be one of the guides who will explain theie ancestors' culture.

Along the way, groups will be accommodated in communal huts built to an Aboriginal design."

Tasmania's Aboriginal Land Council's Clyde Mansell is hopeful tha the guided walk will serve as a model for other tourist ventures around the state.
