The Dry Dock Yacht Club

The Dry-Dock Yacht Club at Mount Noah assures us the first yacht happened by chance. Sagitta arrived on Mount Noah when her trailer broke down on a journey to Durban. Being the closest ‘safe harbour’ to the breakdown, she unknowingly found a permanent home here in the desert. On this day Dr. Warrington, owner, saw the perfect irony in an ocean vessel joining the gorgeous landscapes of the Little Karoo - a pre-historic lake, and began offering yacht accommodation. Mount Noah, a family-run Lodge was born.

Other vessels in the Dry-Dock Marina, Bekka Round the World, Juliano, Blew Pearl, Spartan, The Ark, and The Houseboat arrived with their own stories, now transformed into on-land yacht accommodation. In addition there's a variety of on-land accommodation ranging from basic to luxury rooms.

Many have some good back-stories too. Like the 22ft Laurent Giles design yacht, Bekka Round the World, previously owned by Australian sailor Greg Currie, and it found a home after his journey around the world was unexpectedly interrupted. He subsequently left South Africa - leaving Bekka (above) to join Mount Noah to begin a new life. She now has her own centre-piece ‘marina’, where visitors can experience this reminder of an adventurer’s story for themselves.
