If you're a regular on this site, you'll probably know that we're big fans of Sawdays guides, having booked many properties on our travels over the years, just because of their recommendations. If you know the guidebooks, you are also aware of 'Sawday-speak', the somewhat wry commentary given on the properties, which tells you much, without wasting words. Now, the 20th edition of their British “B&B bible” has just hit the bookshelves, bursting with an unrivalled collection of over 600 of the UK’s most special B&Bs.

 Sawday's tireless team of inspectors have trawled the length and breadth of the UK, seeking out the character, originality, warmth, authenticity (and above all people) that make a Sawday's stay so special, with over 80 exciting new additions.

A house brimming with atmosphere, said to be the inspiration for Wuthering Heights. Arrive for tea and home-baked cake, admire mullion windows and huge flagstones and take Julie's tours. Doubles from £85 per night.
This 1940s landmark on the former RAF North Creake airfield has been lovingly brought back to life with Art Deco design in full flow. Take tea in the art-filled sitting room, tour the roof terrace. Doubles from £110 per night.
This farmhouse sits at the end of a wild-flowered lane and is the chicest of shabby chic. Rustic bedrooms have planked floors and antique beds, organic breakfasts are home-baked and home-picked. Doubles from £70 per night. |
