The world's biggest International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival will be held in Harbin, China from 5th Jan to 28th Feb, 2014. Harbin is the capital and largest city of Heilongjiang Province in Northeast China. It takes eight and half hours travelling from Beijing on a high speed bulletin train. During the festival, ice sculptures are displayed throughout the city. Two main exhibition areas are enormous snow sculptures at Sun Island (a recreational area on the opposite side of the Songhua River from the city) and "Ice and Snow World" every night. Ice and Snow World features illuminated full size buildings made from blocks of 2-3 feet thick crystal clear ice directly taken from the Songhua River. There are many winter activities to choose, such as winter swimming watching, ice skating, dog sledding and more. Harbin is also known as the Eastern Moscow, Russian architecture blends well with local streets. Central Street is a historical and cobbled pedestrian street flanked by a great number of buildings in the European architectural styles ranging from Renaissance and the baroque to eclecticism.
